| Additional information |
This piece belongs to the long-running Portuguese "Ourivesaria" or goldsmithing series, which INCM has used since the early 2000s to document regional filigree traditions. The 2 1/2 Euro denomination itself is a Portuguese invention — no other eurozone member uses it — created specifically to anchor collectible issues at a price point below standard bullion while remaining legally tender.
Marcos, in the Minho region, is historically one of the centers of Portuguese filigree craft, a tradition with roots in pre-Roman Iberian metalwork.
