| Obverse description | The obverse features a stylized Portuguese guitar (guitarra portuguesa), a pear-shaped plucked string instrument central to fado music, depicted in large format and occupying most of the field. The Portuguese armillary sphere emblem is engraved on the body of the instrument. The legend 'REPÚBLICA PORTUGUESA' curves along the upper left rim, while the denomination '2,50 EURO' appears in the upper right field.
