Obverse description The Portuguese coat of arms is depicted at centre, rendered in the stylised form of an arrecada earring, with the national shield featuring the traditional quinas and castles set within a crescent-shaped lower element evocative of traditional Viana jewellery. The design is executed in the silver ring field, with a beaded inner border surrounding the central motif. The legend REPÚBLICA PORTUGUESA arcs along the upper periphery, while the denomination 2,5 EURO appears along the lower rim. The date 2013 is inscribed in the exergue beneath the central device, with the mint mark INCM and engraver's signature E. BYRNE visible in the lower field.
