| 正面描述 | The obverse features a stylised relief map of the European Union member states occupying the right and central portions of the field, rendered with a textured surface to distinguish national territories. The denomination '2½ EURO' appears in bold lettering in the upper right, above the map. To the left, a vertical decorative panel bearing abstract geometric line motifs and two small mint marks is flanked by the trilingual country name legend 'BELGIE BELGIQUE BELGIEN' running vertically. The date '2025' is inscribed to the left of the decorative panel, and the engraver's initials 'IB' appear in the lower right field. |

The European Space Agency was formally established in 1975, consolidating earlier bodies including ESRO and ELDO into a single intergovernmental organization. Belgium was among the ten founding member states and has remained one of the agency's stronger financial contributors, consistently committing above its proportional GDP share to ESA's science and optional programmes.
Belgian commemorative 2½ euro pieces occupy an unusual denomination — too high for everyday circulation, too low for serious collector premiums — which means most are bought on issue and stored uncirculated from the outset.
