Additional information

Thuria was a Messenian city refounded by Rome after the destruction of the earlier settlement — the Romans renamed and resettled it around 182 BC following regional conflicts, and it became one of the more active bronze-issuing mints in the Peloponnesos during the late Hellenistic period. The BCD Peloponnesos collection, from which the reference specimen derives, remains the benchmark for attributing this series.
