| Obverse description | The Polish state eagle displayed in the centre of the field, rendered with spread wings, a crowned head turned to the right, and talons clasping the lower field; the eagle is executed in a bold, sculptural relief characteristic of the Polish People's Republic coinage series. The circular legend POLSKA RZECZPOSPOLITA LUDOWA runs along the upper periphery, separated by raised dot stops. The date 1981 is divided by the eagle's body in the mid-field, flanked to left and right respectively, with the mint mark MW appearing below.
