| Obverse description | The national emblem of the People's Republic of China is displayed prominently at center, depicting the Gate of Heavenly Peace (Tiananmen) surmounted by five stars — one large and four smaller — all within a circular wreath of ears of grain enclosing a cogwheel at the base. The polished central field provides a mirror-like contrast to the finely engraved emblem. Flanking the central panel on both left and right are ornate decorative borders rendered in a frosted finish, featuring traditional Chinese motifs of lotus flowers and auspicious carp amid scrolling foliage. The vertical legend 中华人民共和国 (People's Republic of China) is inscribed in large Chinese characters along the left border, while the date 2012 appears in the lower right border. |

| Reverse description | A highly detailed and dynamically rendered Chinese dragon — the traditional symbol of the Year of the Dragon — is depicted in high relief occupying the right and central portion of the rectangular field, its scaled serpentine body coiled with clawed limbs extended, head turned to face left with open mouth and flowing mane. Swirling clouds and stylized wind patterns fill the left portion of the field, conveying motion and celestial energy in the classic imperial artistic tradition. The Heavenly Stems and Earthly Branches cyclical designation 壬辰 (Rénchén, corresponding to the Year of the Dragon) is inscribed in Chinese characters at the upper right. The face value 2000元 is inscribed in the lower left field. |
