| Obverse description | Within a rectangular flan, the national emblem of the People's Republic of China — featuring Tiananmen Gate surmounted by five stars and flanked by ears of grain bound with a cogwheel — occupies the central field in high relief. The emblem is set against a plain polished ground and framed by an elaborate border of traditional Chinese key-fret and scroll ornamentation rendered in matte relief. The characters of the national title '中华人民共和国' are distributed vertically along the left and right inner margins of the decorative border. |
