| Reverse description | A bronze rectangular ritual vessel (fangding) of the Shang Dynasty (circa 1600–1046 BCE) depicted in high relief at the center of the field. The vessel is richly decorated with taotie animal mask motifs and geometric patterns characteristic of Shang bronze craftsmanship, and was traditionally used for cooking and storing food during ceremonial rites. The denomination '2000' appears as an inscription, along with Chinese character legends identifying the subject. The intricate surface ornamentation reflects the exceptional artistry of ancient Chinese bronze casting. |
