| Reverse description | The reverse presents a detailed, highly relief rendering of the Houmuwu Ding (后母戊鼎), one of the largest and most celebrated ancient Chinese bronze ritual vessels of the Shang Dynasty, displayed in a three-quarter frontal view. The massive rectangular cauldron is shown with its characteristic four sturdy legs, two upright loop handles, and its body adorned with intricate taotie mask and geometric relief ornamentation. The denomination 2000元 is inscribed in the upper field to the left of the vessel, while a vertical Chinese inscription identifying the artifact appears to the right. The fineness and weight inscription Au .999 155.55g is present, attesting to the coin's gold content and mass. |
