| 正面描述 | The aluminium-bronze centre features a stylized globe rendered as a grid of meridians and parallels, overlaid with sweeping curved lines suggestive of orbits or trajectories, evoking themes of global connectivity and the dawn of a new era. The copper-nickel outer ring bears the Korean-script legend reading '재새즈믄해 • 이천원 • 한국은행' (New Millennium Eve • Two Thousand Won • Bank of Korea), arranged along the right and upper periphery. The overall design, executed in a modern graphic style, combines futuristic symbolism with the issuer's identification and denomination. |

South Korea issued this denomination exactly once. The 2,000 won face value has never appeared on a circulating coin before or since, created specifically for the year 2000 commemorative program and never repeated. The Bank of Korea's decision to use an entirely new denomination rather than an existing one was deliberate — a clean break from the standard series to mark the occasion without implying the value would enter regular circulation.
Mintage ran into the tens of millions, which keeps values modest despite the one-time denomination status.
