| Obverse description | The national coat of arms of Uganda occupies the central field, depicting a traditional shield supported by a Uganda kob (antelope) to the left and a grey crowned crane to the right, with two crossed spears behind the shield. A scroll at the base bears the national motto in Latin. The legend BANK OF UGANDA arcs along the upper periphery, with the date 2003 divided to either side of the arms and the denomination 2000 SHILLINGS inscribed along the lower periphery, all within a beaded border. |

| Additional information |
Uganda's commemorative silver program in the early 2000s was contracted through foreign minting houses — this piece almost certainly struck at the British Royal Mint or a European private mint rather than within Uganda itself, a common arrangement for sub-Saharan issuers without domestic precious-metal striking capacity. The Bank of Uganda held no meaningful role in design decisions for most of these issues.
Collector demand for this series has remained thin, with secondary market prices rarely recovering issue cost.
