Reverse description A draped bust of Mother Teresa facing slightly left occupies the center of the field, depicted cradling a young child in her arms, the whole enclosed within an inner beaded circle. Her characteristic white habit with blue-bordered veil is rendered in fine relief. The legend MOTHER TERESA arcs along the upper portion of the inner circle, while the inscription *1910 SKOPJE †1997 CALCUTTA appears at the sides, and THE ANGEL OF THE POOR curves along the lower margin within the beaded border.

Additional information

Issued the year of Teresa's death in Calcutta, this Ugandan commemorative was part of a wave of memorial strikes produced across dozens of mints worldwide in 1997. Uganda had no particular institutional connection to her work — the issue was almost certainly facilitated through a licensed coin program rather than any sovereign initiative from Kampala.
