Uganda's 1993 commemorative program leaned heavily on European alpine imagery — a curious choice for a landlocked East African nation with no geographic or historical connection to the Swiss Alps. These issues were produced for the collector export market, not domestic circulation, and were almost certainly struck by a European contract mint rather than any Ugandan facility.
