Giacinto Facchetti captained Italy at the 1970 World Cup final and spent his entire 17-year playing career at Inter Milan, where he redefined the attacking full-back role under Helenio Herrera's Grande Inter side of the 1960s. He died in September 2006, the same year this coin was issued. Uganda's Bank of Uganda produced a substantial run of licensed football-themed issues during this period, contracting with European distributors to put foreign sporting figures on Ugandan denominations — a practice driven entirely by the collector market, with no domestic circulation intended.
