| 裏面の説明 | The reverse presents a finely detailed high-relief depiction of two African bush elephants facing one another in the foreground, their tusks nearly touching at the centre of the composition, with the iconic snow-capped peak of Mount Kilimanjaro rising in the background across the open savanna. The upper legend AFRICAN WILDLIFE curves along the outer rim, flanked by raised dot separators, while the lower legend reads ELEPHANT · 1kg Ag 999.9, referencing the coin's weight and fineness. The design is framed by a raised rim with a beaded inner border, and the naturalistic rendering of the elephants' textured skin and musculature reflects the high artistic standards of the Bavarian State Mint. |

Somalia's elephant bullion series, running since 2004, occupies an unusual niche: a sovereign-issued product from a country that, for most of the series' existence, had no functioning central government. The internationally recognized transitional and federal authorities licensed the design to a European distributor, meaning these coins were effectively produced for the collector and bullion market with minimal connection to Somali monetary infrastructure.
The 1-kilo format was introduced to compete directly with similar large-format bullion issues from established programs. KM#355 is among the heavier single-coin silver offerings in the series.
