| Vorderseitenbeschreibung | Multicolour note in dominant tones of blue and green, with the Ugandan national coat of arms as a central vignette flanked by two facsimile signatures — one for the Governor and one for the Secretary — rendered in intaglio. A panoramic view of Lake Victoria with forested islands occupies the central ground, while an architectural monument appears at left, set against a guilloche underprint with geometric patterning. Large numeral '2000' appears vertically at right in a dark blue security panel, with the serial number printed twice in contrasting red and black. |

Thomas De La Rue has printed Ugandan banknotes continuously since the country's first independent issue in 1966, making this one of the longer-standing printer-issuer relationships in sub-Saharan Africa. The 2000 Shilling denomination was introduced in 2000 as Uganda's economy recovered from the inflationary damage of the Amin and Obote years, during which the shilling had lost almost all practical value — the 1987 redenomination had already cut six zeros from the old currency.
The twelve-year print run from 2010 to 2022 with minimal design changes reflects the monetary stability Uganda maintained through that period, a marked contrast to the note's turbulent predecessors.
