2000 Rupiah

The 2016 series Indonesian rupiah notes were the first complete redesign of the circulating series in over two decades, driven partly by a government directive to feature exclusively Indonesian national heroes and landscapes — a deliberate move away from the mixed iconography of earlier series. Perum Peruri, the state security printing works established in 1971 and based in Karawang, West Java, has held the monopoly on Indonesian banknote production throughout its existence, making foreign contract printing a non-issue for this series.

The 2000 denomination sits in the lower-middle range of the series, seeing heavy everyday use and consequently high wear rates in circulation.
