| Obverse description | Central field displays the crowned Portuguese royal arms — a shield bearing five escutcheons in cross arrangement, each charged with five bezants, enclosed within a bordure of castles — surmounted by a royal crown with cross finial. The denomination '2000' appears to the left of the shield in the field. The circular legend reads in Latin around the periphery, separated by dots and punctuated by three ornamental quatrefoil rosettes to the right of the shield. The entire design is contained within a finely reeded border. |
