| Obverse description | Central field displays the crowned Portuguese royal arms — a shield bearing five escutcheons in cross arrangement, each charged with five bezants, enclosed within a bordure of castles — surmounted by a royal crown with cross finial. The denomination '2000' appears to the left of the shield in the field. The circular legend reads in Latin around the periphery, separated by dots and punctuated by three ornamental quatrefoil rosettes to the right of the shield. The entire design is contained within a finely reeded border. |

| Reverse description | Central device features a bold Greek cross with squared terminals, circumscribed by an interlaced annulet forming a circle, with four ornamental floral sprigs (trefoils) positioned at the cardinal angles between the arms of the cross. The entire central motif is set within a raised inner ring. The surrounding circular legend, separated by dots, incorporates the regnal title and the mint year, which appears prominently at the top of the legend field. The composition is framed by the coin's reeded edge. |
