| Obverse description | The crowned Portuguese royal arms occupy the centre of the field, depicting the traditional escutcheon with five roundels in cross formation and a border of castles, surmounted by an ornate royal crown. The denomination numeral 2000 appears vertically to the left of the shield, while three five-petalled floral ornaments are arranged vertically to the right. The circular legend, reading from right to left around the periphery, is separated from the central device by a plain field, and the entire design is contained within a finely reeded border. |
