| Obverse description | Left-facing draped bust of Liberty, her hair gathered and adorned with a laurel branch, occupying the centre of the field. A ring of twenty-one five-pointed stars, separated by short dashes, encircles the effigy. The circular legend REPUBLICA DOS ESTADOS UNIDOS DO BRASIL runs along the upper periphery between the beaded border and the star ring, while the date appears in the lower exergual area. The design is executed in a refined French academic style consistent with the work of engraver Georges Dupré. |
