| Obverse description | Countermark of a crowned numeral '2' applied in the lower-left quadrant of the host coin's cross side. The countermark, struck on behalf of Afonso VI, authenticates and revalues the host coin to 2000 Réis. The underlying host coin displays a quartered heraldic cross with castle and lion devices in the four quadrants, all enclosed within a beaded inner circle, with a partial circular legend visible in the outer field. |

| Reverse description | Reverse of the host 2 Cruzados gold coin, displaying the crowned Portuguese royal arms — the escutcheon bearing the quinas (five bezants arranged in a cross on a blue field) and the bordure of castles — set within an ornate shield surmounted by a royal crown. A circular Latin legend surrounds the central device within a beaded border, reading partially IOANNES REX PORTUGALIE or similar royal titulature consistent with coinage of João IV or Afonso VI. |
