| 表面の説明 | The fifth definitive effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II faces right, depicting a mature crowned bust wearing the George IV State Diadem, rendered in high relief by engraver Jody Clark. The portrait is finely detailed, with the Queen shown in robes with visible jewellery and regalia. The royal legend encircles the effigy, incorporating the denomination and date, with the engraver's initials J.C. appearing at the truncation. The design is set within a broad, deeply mirrored proof field characteristic of prestige Royal Mint issues. |

The Three Graces design revived here traces directly to William Wyon's celebrated 1817 pattern, struck when both a new monarch and a new coinage were being simultaneously negotiated — the original never circulated, making it one of the most admired unfulfilled commissions in British numismatic history. This 2020 piece is among the largest and heaviest coins the Royal Mint has produced for the collector market, with the kilogram-plus gold format reserved for a handful of flagship issues in any given decade.
Wyon based his composition on Antonio Canova's sculptural group, itself completed in 1816.
