Opmerkingen	The 2000 Piso denomination was introduced specifically to mark the Philippine centennial of independence from Spain, declared 12 June 1898. It was not a regular circulating denomination — the Philippine monetary system had no prior 2000 Piso note — making this a commemorative insertion into the currency series rather than a practical replacement or upgrade of an existing value. Printed entirely in-house at the BSP's Security Plant Complex, one of relatively few central bank security printers in Southeast Asia operating at full banknote production scale during that period. The P#189 watermark security is modest by late-1990s standards.
