Reverse description The reverse displays a bold portrait bust of Emperor Charles V in profile, modelled after his likeness as it appears on the imperial double ducats (doppio scudo) of Naples and Sicily. The effigy is rendered in high relief, facing right, with period-accurate regalia and armour details. The Latin legend CAROLVS IMPERATOR arcs prominently along the upper rim, while the commemorative date range 1500 - 2000 appears in the lower field, marking the five-hundredth anniversary of the Emperor's birth.
