| Obverse description | The reverse die features a central seated figure of Lord Buddha in dhyana mudra (meditation posture) beneath a stylized Bodhi tree, with a prominent nimbus (halo) encircling the head. The figure is rendered in high relief against a deeply mirrored proof field. The legend LORD BUDDHA © THE ENLIGHTENMENT arcs along the upper periphery, while the denomination 2000 NGULTRUM and date 2003 appear in the lower field. The fineness mark GOLD .999 is inscribed to the lower left. |

| Reverse description | The obverse presents an elaborate central design of two confronted dragons in high relief, coiling symmetrically around a central dharma wheel (dharmachakra), flanked by stylized lotus blossoms and foliate scrollwork in the Bhutanese decorative tradition. A ring of eight small star ornaments borders the inner design. The inscription in Dzongkha script appears along the upper arc, and the legend KINGDOM OF BHUTAN is inscribed along the lower periphery. The overall composition is deeply struck against a mirror-polished proof field. |
