The circular legend reads 'THE LAO PEOPLE'S DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC' around the upper periphery, with the denomination '2000 KIP' inscribed in the lower field. The design is framed by a beaded inner border.

附加信息

That Luang, the great stupa in Vientiane, was largely rubble by the early 19th century after Siamese forces sacked the city in 1828. French archaeological missions beginning in the 1900s undertook its reconstruction, and the restored structure became the pre-eminent national symbol of the Lao state following independence. This coin was issued in the late 1990s amid a severe regional currency crisis — the kip lost roughly 80% of its value against the dollar between 1997 and 1999 — making gold commemoratives of this period an acute irony of monetary policy.
