Comments

Paraguay's 2000 Guaraníes polymer note is unusual in having been produced by three separate security printers over its run — Canadian Bank Note Company, Giesecke+Devrient, and Oberthur Fiduciaire — a sourcing arrangement that reflects both supply pressures and Paraguay's ongoing efforts to diversify print contracts rather than depend on a single supplier. Subtle differences in ink saturation and window placement tolerances exist between printer variants, which specialists track when building complete type sets.

Paraguay adopted polymer substrate partly in response to persistent counterfeiting of its cotton-paper issues during the late 1990s and early 2000s.
