Cameroon has issued coins under its own authority since independence in 1960, but the country's high-value commemorative program — producing oversized silver pieces for the collector market rather than circulation — is operated entirely by the Coin Invest Trust of Liechtenstein and distributed through European dealers. This coin was never intended to pass through Cameroonian hands.

The Swarovski insert program became a recurring device among CIT-produced issues in the 2010s, appearing across dozens of different issuing authorities simultaneously.
