Reverse description A highly detailed high-relief sculptural composition depicts the Seven Lucky Gods of Japanese mythology (Shichifukujin) crowded aboard the Takarabune, the legendary treasure ship. The figures are rendered in antique silver finish with selective copper-tone coloring applied to highlights throughout the scene. Identifiable deities include the elderly Jurojin at left bearing his long staff, the female Benzaiten with her biwa lute, the armored and bearded Bishamonten standing at center rear holding a halberd, the round-faced Hotei at center right, Daikokuten with his sacred mallet, the fisherman deity Ebisu accompanied by a large tai fish at lower left, and the long-headed Fukurokuju. The background field is engraved with concentric wave patterns in the traditional Japanese seigaiha style, and stylized clouds in copper tone frame the lower portion of the ship.
