| Reverse description | The reverse features a dramatically rendered high-relief effigy of Nike, the Greek goddess of victory, depicted as a winged female figure with flowing hair and classical drapery. She is shown facing three-quarters to the viewer, her large feathered wings spread broadly across the field. In her left hand she holds a selectively gilded laurel wreath — the sole element of gold colouring on the design — and in her right hand a palm frond, both traditional attributes of victory. In the lower portion of the field, a dynamic battle scene depicts ancient Greek warriors in combat, rendered in fine detail. The name 'NIKE' is boldly inscribed in capital letters along the lower arc of the coin, and the entire design is framed by an ornate scrollwork border. |
