| Reverse description | Central high-relief composition depicts the mythological scene of Eros and Psyche in an intimate embrace, inspired by classical sculpture. Psyche, rendered as a nude standing female figure, reaches upward toward the winged Eros, who hovers above her with large feathered wings fully spread. Both figures are surrounded by an abundant, richly detailed ground of large blossoming flowers and lush foliage filling the entire field. The sculptural treatment is executed in deep, multi-layered relief with an antique finish enhancing the three-dimensional effect. The legend 'EROS AND PSYCHE' is inscribed in Roman capitals along the lower rim. |
