| Beschrijving keerzijde | The Hindu goddess Durga is depicted in elaborate iconographic detail, seated or standing in a dynamic pose occupying the central field. A lion (Panthera leo), her traditional vahana or mount, is shown to the right of the goddess. The background is richly adorned with stylised floral motifs, lending the composition an ornate, decorative quality consistent with the high-relief minting technique. The overall design draws on classical Hindu artistic tradition and is rendered with fine sculptural detail befitting a collector issue. |

| Aanvullende informatie |
The BEAC issues coinage on behalf of six member states — Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad, Republic of the Congo, Equatorial Guinea, and Gabon — all sharing the CFA franc under a monetary agreement with France that dates to 1945. The Durga series draws on Hindu iconography entirely foreign to the issuing region, a deliberate choice targeting the international collector market rather than any domestic cultural or monetary purpose.
KM#940 is a bullion-adjacent commemorative with no circulation mandate.
