| Aversbeschreibung | At center, the coat of arms of Cameroon is rendered within a circular inset, displaying a shield bearing a scales of justice emblem flanked by two stars, with the motto 'PAIX TRAVAIL PATRIE' inscribed around the arms and the legend 'REPUBLIQUE DU CAMEROUN' surrounding the central device. The fineness mark 'AG 999' and the date '2024' appear within the arms panel, while the denomination '2000 FRANCS CFA' is inscribed along the lower arc. Surrounding the central coat of arms inset, the broader field features a high-relief scene depicting a spacesuited figure manipulating mechanical components against a fine guilloche background, with an intricate molecular or atomic lattice structure filling the right portion of the field. A facsimile signature reading 'Daniel Mróz' appears in the upper right area of the field, referencing the original illustrator of Stanisław Lem's works. |

Cameroon's CFA franc issues have become a vehicle for European-licensed commemorative themes entirely disconnected from Cameroonian history — this coin being a case in point. Stanisław Lem's Pirx the Pilot stories, published between 1959 and 1973, follow a distinctly unheroic, fallible spaceman through a series of morally ambiguous situations that reads as pointed critique of both Cold War techno-optimism and Soviet ideology, remarkable given Lem wrote from within the Polish People's Republic.
Lem's difficult relationship with Western science fiction establishments — he was stripped of his Science Fiction Writers of America honorary membership in 1976 following political controversy — gives the character an ironic posthumous reach he might have appreciated.
