Cnut ruled England, Denmark, Norway, and parts of Sweden simultaneously — a North Sea empire held together by tribute, marriage alliances, and the constant threat of his fleet. He died in 1035 at roughly 40 years old, and within seven years his entire empire had dissolved. Cameroon's connection to any of this is purely commercial: the CEMAEC authority issues collector silver on behalf of member states with no pretense of historical relevance to the issuing nation.
