| Obverse description | Central field depicts a classical Greek temple set dramatically atop a rocky mountain summit, surrounded by billowing clouds and radiating sunbeams, evoking Mount Olympus. The temple vignette is enclosed within a large, high-relief olive wreath, whose tied branches frame the central scene. The date 2024 appears at the top of the inner field above the wreath, flanked by the wreath's upper sprigs, while the fineness mark 'Ag 999' is inscribed at the base of the wreath and the series designation 'XXI' appears just above it. Cameroon has issued commemorative silver under its own authority since the early 2000s, but the program accelerated sharply after European minting houses — principally in Poland and the Czech Republic — began producing high-specification collector pieces on contract for African franc-zone nations. The Athena issue belongs to that wave: a coin with no meaningful connection to Cameroonian monetary history, designed entirely for the international bullion-collector market.
The 2,000 franc face value is nominal — roughly $3.30 USD at current exchange — against a silver melt value many times that figure.
