Rwanda's 2024 banknote series marks a design refresh under P#44, with De La Rue continuing their long-standing relationship as printer for the National Bank. De La Rue's Gateshead facility has handled much of the firm's security printing in recent decades, though London remains the registered production origin for this issue.
Paper rather than polymer is a notable choice at this denomination level — several African central banks have moved toward polymer substrate for mid-to-high value notes in recent years, and Rwanda's retention of cotton-based paper here is worth flagging for condition-conscious collectors, as the material is more susceptible to humidity damage in the region's climate.
