| 备注 |
The P#52 series replaced the previous 2000 Francs issue that had circulated since the early 2000s, arriving during a period of acute political instability — the 2015 constitutional crisis and the violence surrounding President Nkurunziza's contested third term severely disrupted normal economic activity, and banknote production continued largely as a bureaucratic continuity measure rather than in response to healthy monetary demand.
Burundi's currency has been chronically pressured by one of the lowest GDP per capita figures on the continent, and the 2000 Franc denomination, while nominally significant, represented only a fraction of meaningful purchasing power by the time later dates in this series entered circulation.
