Beschrijving keerzijde The reverse presents an allegorical composition set against a textured stone-wall background. An open Bible or scripture volume occupies the lower centre of the field, above which rests a heraldic shield bearing the Greek letter Alpha (Α), with the Omega (Ω) implied in the overall iconographic programme. A dove in dynamic flight with wings fully spread dominates the upper field, symbolising the liberating spirit of the Reformation. An unfurling scroll in the lower right carries the inscription 'REFORMÁCIÓ 500 ÉVE' in Latin lettering. The engraver's initials 'CSR' appear at the lower left.

Aanvullende informatie

The 500th anniversary being commemorated here marks Luther's posting of the Ninety-Five Theses in 1517 — an event with particular resonance in Hungary, where Reformed (Calvinist) Christianity took deep root by the mid-16th century and survived Ottoman occupation, Habsburg suppression, and Counter-Reformation pressure to remain a defining feature of Hungarian cultural identity. Hungary's reformed congregations were among the earliest and most tenacious in Central Europe.

The Magyar Nemzeti Bank issued several pieces across different metals for this anniversary year. The copper-nickel 2000 forint sits at the accessible end of that program.
