| 裏面の説明 | A cheetah in full sprint is depicted in high relief at the centre of the field, its spotted body elongated and all four legs extended in a characteristic running posture. Short diagonal lines in the field suggest motion and speed. The date 1980 is inscribed in the lower exergue in a clean serif typeface. A beaded border surrounds the entire design, consistent with the obverse treatment. |

Equatorial Guinea's early 1980s silver program was aimed squarely at the collector market — the country had virtually no domestic numismatic tradition and was still stabilizing after the catastrophic Macías Nguema dictatorship, which ended with his overthrow and execution in 1979. The cheetah series was produced for export revenue, not circulation, and the 2000 ekuele denomination never saw a single day of ordinary commerce.
The ekuele itself was abandoned in 1985 when Equatorial Guinea joined the CFA franc zone, making this issue currency for a monetary unit with fewer than a decade of existence.
