Issued to mark the sixtieth anniversary of Jamaican independence, this is one of the higher-denomination polymer notes the Bank of Jamaica has put into general circulation — a format the bank had been cautiously expanding into for over a decade before committing to it at this value. De La Rue's Cameleon polymer substrate was already proven across the Caribbean by this point, and Jamaica's adoption at the 2000-dollar level reflects a practical response to persistent counterfeiting pressure on the higher denominations.
The watermark security feature listed is somewhat anomalous for polymer — true watermarks belong to paper; what polymer notes carry instead is a clear window or transparent element performing an equivalent function.
