Описание аверса	Central field depicts a stylized architectural view of the sports complex in Split, rendered in a modernist relief style. Above, the state emblem of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia — a torch surrounded by wheat sheaves bound with a ribbon bearing six torches — is prominently displayed. The circular legend along the rim reads 'SFR JUGOSLAVIJA' on the left and 'СФР ЈУГОСЛАВИЈА' on the right in Latin and Cyrillic scripts respectively. The date '1978' and a mint mark appear below the emblem in the field. The large denomination '2000' is inscribed at the bottom of the field, flanked by the denomination in multiple languages: 'ДИНАРИ', 'DINARJEV', 'ДИНАРА', and 'DINARA'.

Описание реверса	High-relief right-facing portrait bust of Josip Broz Tito dominates the central field, rendered in a realistic and detailed sculptural style befitting a commemorative proof issue. The surrounding legend reads 'JOSIP BROZ TITO-POKROVITELJ VIII MEDITERANSKIH IGARA' along the upper rim, identifying Tito as patron of the VIII Mediterranean Games. At the base of the coin, within two raised dots, the inscription '·SPLIT 1979·' denotes the host city and year of the games.

Дополнительная информация	Yugoslavia hosted the Mediterranean Games in Split in 1979, making this one of the few commemorative issues where the host nation's mint had direct institutional motivation to produce a prestige piece. The Split games were a significant propaganda moment for Tito's government — the last Mediterranean Games held before his death in May 1980. Struck at the Zavod za izradu novčanica mint in Topčider, the .900 gold issues from this series were produced in small quantities aimed primarily at the collector export market, generating hard currency.
