This denomination belongs to the transitional coinage issued in the final year of the Qajar dynasty's effective rule, before Reza Khan formally deposed Ahmad Shah and crowned himself Reza Shah Pahlavi in December 1925. The coins were struck under his name as Minister of War and then Prime Minister — a deliberate assertion of authority through the mint before the throne was legally his.
KM#1096 is sometimes encountered with die alignment inconsistencies attributable to the Tehran mint's equipment during this period of institutional upheaval.
