| Obverse description | Three-quarter facing effigy of Ahmad Shah Qajar, depicted as a young ruler wearing a traditional Qajar plumed crown (kolah) adorned with a jewelled aigrette, dressed in military uniform with epaulettes visible at the shoulder. The portrait is set within a beaded inner border, with the Persian date ۱۳۳۱ (AH 1331) divided in the field to either side of the effigy. The style is characteristic of early twentieth-century Iranian engraving. |

| Reverse description | Multi-line Persian legend within a beaded inner circle, surrounded by a wreath of oak branches in the outer margin, itself enclosed by a beaded border. The central legend reads 'Al-Sultan Muhammad Ali Shah Qajar / Do Hezari' (Two Thousands), identifying the denomination and ruler. This reverse, bearing the name of Muhammad Ali Shah, combined with the obverse of Ahmad Shah, constitutes the mule characteristic of this pattern issue. The wreath is finely detailed with naturalistic leaves and berries. |
