Reverse description The reverse presents a decorative motif drawn from the interior of a gilded bowl dated to the sixteenth century, known as the 'Source of Life', incorporating a pair of peacocks within an ornate foliate composition. A guilloche underprint fills the background field. The denomination and issuing authority are rendered in Cyrillic script along the upper and lower margins.

The 2016 date on this note places it within the final years of Macedonia's prolonged dispute with Greece over the country's constitutional name — a conflict that had real consequences for the currency's international recognition and the central bank's formal name abroad. Thomas De La Rue printed the series, as they had for much of Macedonia's post-independence note production since 1992.

The 2000 Denar denomination was the highest in regular circulation, rarely seen in everyday transactions in a country where most retail exchanges happened well below that value.
