Poland's 1976 Olympic commemorative program coincided with one of the most politically charged Games of the modern era — the Montreal Olympics, overshadowed by the African nation boycott over New Zealand's rugby ties with apartheid South Africa. Trial strikes like this one were produced ahead of approved issue runs to test die alignment, planchet feed, and alloy behavior, and were rarely intended for circulation or public sale. The .750 silver composition itself was a cost-driven compromise adopted by NBP for this commemorative series.
