| Obverse description | The crowned Polish eagle with wings spread, facing right, rendered in high relief at the centre of the field. The circular legend POLSKA RZECZPOSPOLITA LUDOWA arcs around the upper periphery, while the date 1980, divided by the eagle's tail, appears in the lower central field. The denomination 200 ZŁ is inscribed in large numerals along the lower rim, flanked by the currency abbreviation ZŁ on each side. The mintmark MW appears below the eagle's breast. The overall design follows the standard heraldic eagle type used on People's Republic of Poland coinage of this period. |

| Additional information |
Kazimierz I Odnowiciel — Casimir the Restorer — earned his epithet by rebuilding the Polish state after the catastrophic pagan uprising of the 1030s nearly erased it entirely. The Odnowiciel series was part of a broader NBP program in the late 1970s and early 1980s commemorating medieval Piast rulers, issued in both circulation and collector formats with trial strikes produced in alternative metals for approval purposes. This nickel trial exists outside the standard gold issue and was never intended for release.
