Additional information

Issued to mark the 175th anniversary of the Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts, founded in 1829 under the patronage of the Kingdom of Poland — a short-lived constitutional monarchy under Russian imperial control. The academy's early decades were turbulent; it was shuttered by tsarist authorities following the November Uprising and did not reopen in a continuous, stable form until the late nineteenth century.

The 900-fine gold specification places this squarely in NBP's collector bullion tradition of the period, struck in limited numbers for the numismatic market rather than any circulation purpose.
