Issued during the November Uprising against Russian rule, this note was produced by the insurrectionary Polish government in the brief window between the outbreak of revolt in late 1830 and the fall of Warsaw in September 1831. The Kasa Główna was effectively printing currency for a state that Russia refused to recognize and was actively working to destroy — these notes had a functional lifespan measured in months.
Leon Dembowski served as Finance Minister during the uprising. His signature on this note is a direct artifact of that short-lived administration.
