| Obverse description | The central device depicts the South Korean state arms: the taeguk symbol set within a stylised hibiscus blossom, all enclosed by a circular wreath of roses and wheat ears flanking both sides of the field. The Hangul legend 대한민국 (Republic of Korea) appears on a scroll beneath the arms, with the dual date 4303 - 1970 inscribed along the upper rim reflecting both the Korean Dangi and Gregorian calendars. The denomination 200 원 WON is inscribed in the lower central field, with the issuer legend 한국은행 (Bank of Korea) running along the lower rim in large Hangul characters. A small fineness mark (.999) appears in the lower right field. |
